The Tailor-made training focusses on opportunities and challenges for Nature-based Solutions (NbS) in Vietnam. In collaboration with IWRP and StudioFlow, HKV has developed a training consisting of online meetings and two training weeks in Vietnam for a group of trainees with a broad background.
Prior to the training, a broad group of stakeholders was interviewed on the possibilities and limitations for NbS in Vietnam to further refine the content of our training.
During the training we discussed with the trainees what NbS are, what their main benefits are and what challenges play a role during implementation. The theory was made tangible during the training through short group assignments, invited guest speakers that work on NbS in Vietnam and a case study. Additionally, we have made field visits to a flood plain and a river mouth to train the recognition and appreciation in practice.
The trainees indicated that they have valued the training very much and compare it positively to similar trainings on NbS. The indicate that they are better equipped to contribute to NbS in their daily work. Crucial for the success of the training were the variety of conceptual theory and practical elaboration, the combination of fictitious assignments and visiting the actual situation during field visits, facilitating ample time for interaction between trainees and trainers and attention for intercultural sensitivities.
