The DRR team, with HKV team leader Marco Hartman, HKV team member Carolien Wegman and members of Arcadis, Deltares and Royal HaskoningDHV, began their mission to Myanmar with a visit to Bilin and Hpa-an (2019, before the militaristic coup). The purpose of the mission was to support the authorities in mitigating the effects of the annual high water season.
On Wednesday, the DRR team visited the Chief Minister of the State of Mon in Mawlamyine. She then made a field visit to the Ataran River. On Thursday, the DRR team visited Ye Town to discuss the recent floods. On Saturday morning, the DRR team in Myanmar presented their findings and recommendations to representatives of institutes responsible for flood risk management.
