A new database for flood fatalities and evacuation

After a demonstration during the life loss modelling workshop in Toronto in June of this year, the flood fatality database is now online. A flood fatality database has been built in order to reduce life loss by evacuation and improve fatality functions and thereby evacuation planning and risk assessments. Read more

Kick off of the project 'Disaster Risk Reduction Practice Research and Capacity Building Support to ECOWAS'

Last week the consortium responsible for implementation of the World Bank funded project met in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire. The consortium, under the leadership of WASCAL (West African Science Service Center on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use), implements this project until the end of 2019 in close cooperation with the 15 member countries of ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States). Read more
